This program meets weekly on the USC Columbia campus Oct. 5, 2026 - Nov. 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM.

Welcome to Gamecock Stories! In this course, we will learn all about the history of the University of South Carolina. Chartered in 1801, the institution’s history is long and complex, filled with amazing stories of students, professors, staff, administrators, and alumni who have made Carolina into what it is today. You will leave this class with a much deeper appreciation for all things Carolina!

We will understand the history of South Carolina College before the Civil War, the Reconstruction era, the period of instability between 1880 and World War II, the desegregation movement, protests over the Vietnam War, Gamecock sports history, and much more. We will look at primary sources together to better understand the past by empathizing with individuals who lived this history.

Once you have paid in full, you will receive a course reminder email approximately one week before the class starts with the course location and directions. If at any time you have any questions, please call us at 803-777-9444 or email pep@mailbox.sc.edu.

Please note: Space is limited and your seat in the course is not confirmed until payment is received. Additionally, payment must be received at least seven days prior to the start of the course by Noon EST on the seventh day.

Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.
