The Department of Statistics, which officially became an independent academic department in July 1985, is celebrating its 40th Anniversary with a conference on the USC campus on March 27-28, 2026. We will have a mixer on Friday evening, March 27, in the Science & Technology Building. On Saturday, March 28, in the Science & Technology Building, Room 351, we will have a day of presentations, highlighted by our plenary speaker, Bin Yu, Professor of Statistics at the University of California, Berkeley. We will also have presentations on the history of the statistics department, along with invited talks from distinguished alumni of the statistics department. A continental breakfast and a boxed lunch will be served on Saturday. Finally, we will have a special banquet on the evening of March 28 in the beautiful Carolina Room on the 17th floor of the Capstone Building. A buffet dinner will be served, along with memories and remarks from distinguished former faculty and alumni.
